5 Best Indoor Locations for Branding Photography in Vermont

Let’s face it — Vermont weather doesn’t always play nice, it's cold and snowy seven months out of the year (hey, I love the snow and am not complaining!) but for many of my clients, indoor branding sessions offer the perfect blend of cozy comfort and creative control. We can set up scenes and manipulate the lighting as we need to.  But whether you're craving natural light with a downtown city vibe or the familiar feel of your own workspace or studio, I’ve got you covered.

Over the years, I’ve photographed dozens of women-owned businesses, creatives, and small businesses in beautiful, personality-packed indoor spaces. And I get that a LOT of people WFH, and photographing there just isn't always doable (I see you parents!)

Here are a few of my favorite go-to spots for indoor branding photography sessions—each one designed to help you show up as your most authentic, client-attracting self.

1. Karma Birdhouse – Burlington, VT

If you’ve ever wandered into the Karma Birdhouse building in Burlington, you know the vibe is just something you want to be immersed in. This historic, creative co-working space is tucked away near the lake and brimming with beautiful natural light, a quirky architecture that I am absolutely HERE FOR, and endless visual interest.

There are a few options for spaces to rent and range from exposed brick walls to funky lounge-areas, to full on office meeting spaces for that extra proffesional look (if that's what you're going for!)

Whether you're a writer, designer, wellness pro, or running your own creative studio, Karma Birdhouse offers that “urban creative meets grounded Vermont” look that works across all kinds of brands.  Not only inside, but the outside proximity to the lake offers a lot of options for diversity of shots we can get if we hold our session here.

Pro Tip: Want to make the most of your session together? Make sure to bring props like your laptop, journal, favorite mug, or tools of your trade to create storytelling-rich content for all your marketing needs (plus, it's such a cool time stamp of who you are right, you badass, you!)

2. Your Own Home or Studio

One of the most overlooked (but wildly powerful) locations for branding photography is… your own space.

And ok, maybe we cheated here, but hear me out!

Why? Because your home, studio, or office is often the truest reflection of your brand. Whether it's a sun-drenched kitchen, a cozy reading nook, or your meticulously styled work desk, these spaces say a lot about who you are and how you serve your clients.

Bonus: You’re already comfortable there, which means the photos will have a head start in feeling relaxed, real, and full of personality... your personality!

I often help clients style and prep their space beforehand if you're within 30 minute drive.  I can help you moving things around, clean your space or even help to bring in props to make everything pop on camera. It’s not about having the picture-perfect home—it’s about showing your real, beautiful life in action.  And if it's just a corner of a room, that's fine- I can (and will )make magic happen!

3. Local Coffee Shops

Vermont has no shortage of charming coffee shops, and they’re often perfect for branding sessions — especially if your brand leans cozy, creative, or community-minded.

Think latte art, beautiful table textures, and that everyday magic of getting things done with a warm cup in hand.

Some favorites include:

  • Kestrel at Karma Birdhouse — ideal if you're already shooting at KBH and want some variety.

  • Scout & Co. in Winooski or Burlington – bright and airy with a fun, modern aesthetic.

  • Uncommon in Essex – stylish, nostalgic, and it has a vibe of it's own- think HUGE bookshelves and vintage chairs.

Pro Tip: Make sure to always check with the business first (most are pretty cool and happy to host) and aim for slower times (usually mid-mornings on weekdays) so we can shoot without a big crowd.

4. Rental Studios or Creative Spaces

Sometimes you just need a blank slate — somewhere with clean lines, great lighting, and the ability to customize the vibe. That’s where studio rentals and creative spaces come in.

I have access to several local studio options around Chittenden County- these are studios of dear friends and other artists. Whether you need white walls and big windows, or something more styled and editorial, we can find the right space to match your brand’s look and feel.  I also love to play around in a big 'ol studio if you want to have a clean and classic look OR branch out into more creative portraiture

These spaces are particularly great for:

  • Creative Portraiture

  • Clean + Classic sweeping backdrop look / / minimal and chic.

  • Content batching for an entire season

These spaces are also great if you just don’t feel like tidying your own space (no shame there!).  We'll match the place to the vibe you're going for, I'll make sure of it!

5. Private Client Homes

Sometimes, a client's home just is the brand. Especially for service-based businesses, creatives, or lifestyle brands, shooting in a private home or the private home can help convey your idea of how you run your business but maybe they have more of the vibe you're trying to attract.

Maybe your friend has that great kitchen or gorgeous living room you love to be in.  Or maybe I have a past client who's place just SCREAMS your brand.  With a little leg work and thought, sometimes the perfect places to have you photo sessions are place and people you already know.  You just have to ask!

Not sure if your space will “work”? That’s what I’m here for. I always help scout and plan ahead to make sure the space fits our goals—and I promise, you don’t need a designer home to create magic.

Let’s Make Your Brand Feel Like You

At the end of the day, branding photography isn’t just about pretty pictures—it’s about connection, clarity, and consistency- a trifecta that will take your business to the next level. Indoor sessions offer us a chance to create cohesive and story-driven, scroll-stopping visuals no matter the season or the weather, and there are endless possibilities. I'm getting excited just thinking about it!

If you’re a small business owner, entrepreneur, or creative in Vermont, let’s work together to find a space that makes you feel seen, celebrated, and totally in your zone. Whether it's a vibey co-working space like Karma Birdhouse or Kru, your own cozy home or that of a friend or clients, or your absolute favorite coffee shop — we’ll create content that helps your people find you and fall in love with your brand.
