How to Celebrate Your College Graduation with a Personal, Meaningful Photo Session
Graduating college is a huge accomplishment—whether you’re finishing up at UVM, Champlain, Middlebury, or another Vermont school. Before you pack up your dorm or toss that cap in the air, let’s talk about how to make your graduation photos feel authentic, stylish, and totally you.
I’m Barbee, a Vermont-based portrait photographer, and I’ve helped grads celebrate this major milestone with relaxed, natural photo sessions that show off both your personality and your achievements.

Best Places to Take College Graduation Photos in Vermont
Your campus probably has a ton of sentimental spots, and we can build your session around them.
Top locations include:
Your college campus: Think library steps, your favorite study nook, or the quad where you hung out with friends
Downtown Burlington or Church Street: Great for lifestyle shots with coffee, confetti, and city vibes
Waterfront or parks nearby: Add a natural element for more variety and a peaceful vibe
💼 Want a few professional shots too? We can take some headshots for LinkedIn or grad school apps as part of your session.

What to Wear for College Grad Photos
Bring a few outfit options that show different sides of your personality:
Your cap and gown (and maybe a decorated cap if you have one!)
A favorite dress, suit, or outfit you’d wear for a celebration
College gear – hoodie, jersey, or anything that reps your school pride
Casual look – jeans, sneakers, or your “go-to” outfit
🎓 Bonus tip: Bring a bottle of bubbly (or sparkling cider), a bouquet, or your diploma holder for fun prop moments.

Celebrate the Real You
We can personalize your shoot with:
Friends or roommates (book a group grad session!)
Your partner or family
Your pet, instrument, or anything that represents your college journey
Don’t worry if you’re not used to being in front of the camera—I'll guide you the whole time so you feel confident and relaxed.

When to Book Your Vermont College Grad Session
Most grads book sessions in late April through mid May, but I also offer fall and winter sessions if that’s more your style (hello snowy cap & gown shots!).
Before the session, you’ll get:
A prep guide with outfit tips and what to bring
A location brainstorm if you’re stuck
Clear directions for meeting up and how the session will go
After the session:
You'll get a sneak peek within a few days (because I know you’re excited!)
Your full gallery is delivered online, ready to download and share
You can order prints, grad cards, and keepsakes right from your gallery

Let’s Get it on the Calendar!
