Kathryn and Ryan had the most beautiful and intimate wedding on the rocky shores of Lake Champlain in Burlington. With just their parents and two close friends in attendance, it was one of my favorite ceremonies of the wild year that was 2020.
We met at West Lane Flowers in Winooski for the first look. Ryan and his mother arrived first, and I was immediately engulfed in their calm and kind energy. Even though I've been doing this for a while, I always get nervous excitement right before a wedding, and these immediately went away as soon as the first words were spoken.
We went around back to the flower garden and OMG, it was AWESOME. Just this beautiful flower farm in the middle of Winooski. The perfect place for the first look and some family portraits. When we heard Kathryn & her parents get to the garden, I placed Ryan in position for the first look and guided Kathryn that way.
Their first look photo is maybe one of my favorites I've ever taken. Ryan just has this look of pure love... I can't explain it any other way. It was such a heartwarming moment, with parents behind watching the beautiful moment go down. Add this is just another reason I LOVE LOVE LOVE smaller weddings. These beautiful moments are just shared with a few more important people, and it just amplifies it all.
The ceremony was going to be held at Oakledge Park in Burlington, so we caravanned down where we met Martha Dallas of Vermont Celebrants. Martha performed the most lovely and meaningful ceremony. She has a lovely way with words and leads the ceremony with such flowing grace. The emotion of their guests were incredible, and you could just tell how incredible and special of a day it was. I felt so so so humbled to be a part of this particular ceremony. The energy was incredible.
After their ceremony, we took some portraits in the early afternoon light. It was so beautiful and only a little cold (...right?) on the windy shores of the lake.
